The beginning
I and a whole bunch of other participants arrived by train to Undersåker in the morning of the first day, and from there we went by taxi-as-bus to Vålådalen, where the first assembly was scheduled. The weather was mild, with outside temperatures hovering just around freezing, and a light mixture of rain and snow falling from the sky. After a sturdy breakfast at Vålådalen fjeld station, we were all introduced to each other and to those who would lead the whole shebang; the present party was a good blend of age, experience, gender, and place of residence. A more or less joint skiing trip to the Stensdalen cottages then started at noon, and upon arriving in strong headwind and snowdrift we mostly just installed ourselves and made preparations for the following days before dinner.
