The surface of the water hole was noticeably higher after the recent rains, but my newly constructed walkway still performed well. The ground on the other side of the stream before the hilltop was wetter than before too, and now also strewn with reindeer tracks (both indentations and defecations). Thick clouds shifted to and fro as I walked through the still forest, noting a multitude of blueberries past the larger tarn. When the forest opened up again the wind returned, and the last mire was also on the wetter side, but no worries. I passed a few reindeer who were busy making new tracks of at least one kind, and reached my usual rock at 11.

The waves were smaller than during my previous visit, but the view of the bottom had deteriorated somewhat. I fished my way onwards along the shore, casting quite far out, but just as before got nothing for it. It was almost chilly in the wind, but it was mostly fine anyway. I heard the cries of a rough-legged buzzard followed by two of the large birds' flight across the water, and a loon also did a couple of passes. Thin drifting mists kept playing hide-and-seek with weak glimpses of the sun, and all the peaks were hidden in cloud.

I left the fishing pole and walked over to the outflow bay where a couple of swimming birds had taken up positions, but as I approached they alighted and fled to the other side. I followed a small footpath up onto the flat rise and found that the view over the lakes was rather a misty one this time around, but the waters could still be seen. I returned to the pole and fished my way back to the rock, where I sat down for lunch before 12:30.

Having observed some promising signs in the reed bay I soon relocated there. I managed to hit the spots well and observed a nibble or two, but still nothing came of it. I walked to and fro trying to follow the signs, but to no avail. The mists kept drifting past all the while, making for an intriguing feeling of isolation – unfortunately also with regard to the fish.

Finally I bade Lägertjärnen farewell for what was to be the last time and started the trek back at a leisurely pace, encountering more mist along the way. There was a group of reindeer after the hilltop at the water hole, and most of them splashed their way across the canal as I walked the path. Speaking of paths I chose the upper one again after my own crossing, which involved no splashing, and came back to a deserted cottage at 14:00.
