I walked the water path as usual, noting that the long board that was placed across the stream creaked quite audibly as I stepped on it. The wind was noticeable in the open areas and most of the land lay in shadow. After the hilltop the path had several places where one could easily lose it for a bit before finding another, clearer route a few meters away, in both directions, and I found myself with a different combination now compared to last time. There were small waves upon Lägertjärnen as I approached the water, stopping at the previous lunch rock half an hour after I had left the cottage.
I started fishing in the reed bay and then proceeded along the shore to the blunt headland before the bay at the outflow. Two things were constant: the wind and no catches, discounting some underwater plants that got yanked up. Eventually I walked up onto the nearby rise for another look at the lakes, and then fished my way back towards the rock, still without success.
I packed up and left at 11, following the path northwards and then turning down towards the larger of Anaristjärnarna at a headland close to its northern end. Here the water was shallow, but it got a bit better a short distance further along, so I put on a lighter spinner and restarted. It was, however, somewhat difficult casting against the wind from this direction, and I soon sat down for lunch on a heath-covered rock at 11:45.
As I sat there the sky started to grow lighter, the high clouds slowly getting thinner. I heard some faint sounds behind me, and caught sight of a couple of people on the path, who I surmised were two of my resting guests. I continued northwards along the shore, passing a fireplace, casting where the water depth so permitted. Eventually I came to the outflow, which was deep and wide and therefore unpassable, so I followed the water downstream. There were a number of really deep bowls in the canal, where I actually tried a bit of angling; there were some fish about, but just tiny ones.
Closer to where the canal bent I broke off over bushier ground, but rather than going all the way back to the path I adjusted my heading again and ended up at the reed tarn. Here the depth was fine, but also on this side the reeds held the water in their grip, so fishing was a bit tricky. I went out onto the little headland flown through by the canal, from where casting was easier, but still no fish (actually I did see one, but the running theme this summer was "see, not catch").
Having packed up again I rounded the tarn and then followed the canal on the other side, which started out astonishingly deep but soon grew shallower, and now the sun was growing in power. When I had crossed the stream I set about utilizing the various items of wood lying about to fashion a better path, including a plank bridge that didn't creak or bend. Once I was satisfied I returned along the upper path, finding the sextet outside at the table.
