Introduction

It was to be another summer of corona-related adaptations in the fjelds, but seeing as how the previous one turned out pretty well, all things considered, I decided to have another go.

This time, however, I aimed for something closer to home, namely the Anaris cottage, which is actually the closest cottage to my home as the buzzard flies. It is also one of the smallest – of the same make as the Kårsavagge cottage, in fact, but without modernized innards or extra beds – and least visited, due to its location on the side of the popular trails.

I originally tried for the autumn period, not having had one of those since Kutjaure in 2009, and it would also have offered a kind of second take on my one previous visit, but in the end I was offered and accepted the middle period instead.

I also intended to take the opportunity to visit Lunndörren on the way up, thereby lengthening the journey to two days. This happened to coincide with my predecessor's needing to leave Anaris one day earlier than planned; she would be taking the route through Issjödalen, so we agreed to meet out on the trail between Lunndörren and Anaris for the shift.

As the summer progressed my tempo got steadily slower in anticipation of what I expected to be a calm period out on the edges of the cottage system. But just how calm would it be?

Here, then, follows an abridged account of the events during the four weeks I spent in and around Anaris, illustrated by the usual range of pictures. Day tours have been placed in their own reports, which are linked to from the relevant pages.
