Wednesday 18/7 – part one

Cession

The massacre had some survivors, or its victims had avengers, for I had to repeat the procedure during the night, but then I could sleep well until morning. It was overcast, with lower clouds off to the southwest as usual, and there was a bit of wind. Only a single German camper had stayed the night, and after making sure that there had been no late arrivals I made my final economic report and left the shop in the care of my colleagues; there were a few visitors as usual. Everything checked out, so I turned to final packing, and when I was done I cleaned out the room and ceded it to Robert. I went over some final things with him and Hans and then brought my stuff over to the upper cottage, where I had lunch together with one of the temporary guests.

Afterwards I took it easy, letting the food settle, talking with some of the visitors, more of which were filing in – but that was no longer my concern, as I was now officially off-duty. Having finalized my pack I bade farewell to Hans and Robert, and waited for some light drops to cease falling before setting out on the first stage of my journey home at 13:15.
