Introduction

This tour was at first meant for midsummer, but as weather conditions turned out to be less than favorable at the time it was pushed back, and now the opportunity seemed better – with a somewhat differing outcome, as usual. My plan was to go between Vålådalen and Storulvån – the direction changed many times – through Bunnerfjällen, and specifically passing Ö Bunnerskalet and Bunnersjöarna. One night would be spent in my tent, and one in the Stensdalen cottages with their alluring sauna. This would also serve as a "warming-up" tour before my upcoming warden assignment in Vålåvalen.

...and then the birch walking stick with its 650g. I took the westbound train from Östersund, which was actually not an entirely straightforward matter this time around, as there was some confusion at the railway station just which train was to depart to where, and there was at least one person who ended up on the wrong one due to this informational mishap. I, however, found myself going in the right direction, and in Undersåker the bus to Vålådalen took by.

Here, then, is the account of what transpired during the subsequent three days. Each section has a header consisting of a short overview of the stage in question, complete with a map showing the route travelled. A ring marks the starting point, a square the lunch break location, and a star the destination. Vertical distances have been calculated from the map and have an accuracy of 20 m. Breakfasts consisted of oatmeal porridge, tea and a sandwich, and all lunches of two cups of instant soup, a sandwich and water.
