Summary
What a splendid trip! I mean, fjeld tours are always nice and all, but this one really was something. Although if I am allowed to gripe anyway, I could have made do with temperatures just a few degrees lower; it was almost unbearably hot from time to time, with all clothes and packing. That's minor, though.
Gåsen has come to be somewhat of a winter favorite of mine, and I shall certainly be revisiting it many a time in the future. This particular visit was almost perfect in every respect, and I'm sure the good company contributed to the feeling. Helags was also a nice experience, with its curious mix of presence and absence of modern conveniences, and its strategic location right below the imposing massif. And seeing Sylarna in their full splendor is never wrong either.
I had brought more clothes than actually proved to be necessary, due to the almost surprisingly nice weather, but one thing I had overlooked was sun protection – with an unobscured sun, clear air and highly reflective snow all around, one quickly gets quite a tan on exposed skin, which usually means the face. Consequently, I had rather a colorful complexion in the end, and I even manufactured a makeshift reflector out of the inner tinfoil wrapping of a consumed chocolate bar to cover my nose.
This was the last tour of the winter, and upon returning home I put the skis away in expectation of next year's trips. Instead, I started giving serious thought to what to do and where to go in the upcoming summer and autumn – something which is accounted for elsewhere...
